Installation Tips

Handle side should be on the exterior of the room, home, or closet.
Hand tighten screws only, do not use power tools to porotect the finish.

Installation Instructions

The handle is to be mounted on the exterior of door. Next determine the “handing” of the door. If the handle is to be mounted on the left side of door, use “LEFT “side of template. (Use “RIGHT”, if mounting handle on right side of door.)
Fold template along the vertical line and place on the vertical line on edge of the door.
Measure 37” from floor (or desired height) to center line on template.
With an awl or nail mark the center location of the three 5/16” holes for the thumb- piece slot.
Drill the three 5/16” holes through the door, being careful not to splinter the wood as the bit exits the opposite side of door.
Chisel out waste as shown by the shaded area on template, between 5/16” holes.
Mount handle on the door with the thumb-piece through the slot (see figure 3.) The handle is to be parallel with the doors edge and the thumb piece level and at the base of the slot. Drill 1/16” pilot holes and secure the handle with six #8 x 3/4” pyramid head screws.
Move to interior side of door, slide thumb-piece hole cover over the thumb-piece tail and positon the cover as the thumb-piece touches the bottom of slot. Secure with a #7 x 5/8” pyramid head screw in the bottom screw hole. Install the second screw after placing the locking button at the top hole. Tighten the top screw only enough to allow the locking button to swivel freely, but not loosely. If not needed- omit locking button and tighten the screw.
With the door open, slide the hole end of latch bar through the bar guide and resting level on the thumb-piece. Position it: (passage - Figure 1) mount flat bar -1/2”beyond door, (closet- Figure 1) mount off-set bar even with the doors edge. A black nylon washer goes between latch bar and door. Secure with the #8 x ¾”screw, leaving the screw loose enough to allow the bar to pivot freely but not too loosely. Position the bar guide as it touches the bottom of the latch bar. Mark and drill two 1/16”holes, and secure the bar guide 2-#7 x 5/8” pyramid head screws.
Close the door against the door stop. Holding the desired strike, position it to the door stop so that the latch bar sits the notch in the strike. Mark the location of the strike, mortise if required. Secure with two #7 x 1” flat head screws.
